Buyer’s Guide

This page will provide you with an overview of what to expect and how to go about purchasing or ordering from us.

Purchasing a Stock Instrument:

All major credit cards accepted, as well as cashier check and bank wire transfer.
For credit card transactions, we will e-mail you a Credit Card Authorization Form to complete the sale (Adobe Acrobat PDF file).
If you cannot open a PDF file, we can fax the form to you.

Case Included:

NYC models include your choice of ultralight case, Mooradian gig bag or our PortaBag.
Archtops include a custom-fitted hardshell case. Mooradian gig bags also available.
Metro basses include an ultra-light case. You may purchase a gig bag additional to the case that comes with Metro basses.
Pre-Owned instruments ship with the original case.

Sales Tax in New York State Only:

Any item that ships to an address in New York State will be subject to 8.875% sales tax which is applicable to the item cost and the shipping.

Ordering a New York City Guitar or Bass:

New York City instruments (guitars and basses) are only sold direct.
$500 deposit required.
Build time is about 7 months.
All major credit cards accepted, as well as cashier checks and bank wire transfer.
Instruments shipped worldwide on 7-day approval except fretless, left-handed basses and/or basses with LEDs in the neck ... which are on special order.
Shipping rates and policy (see below).
Approval period begins the day you receive the instrument.
If you wish to return it, notify us within the 7-day period that you will be returning the instrument. If the instrument is returned in perfect condition, a full refund (minus shipping charges) will be issued. Please allow 48 hours for returns to be processed. Returns will be credited in the same manner as your purchase (ie: we cannot issue you a check if you paid with a credit card and we must refund to the same account number that was used for the purchase or deposit).

Ordering a Metro Bass:

Metro basses are sold direct and through our Metro Dealers.
$500 deposit required.
All major credit cards accepted.
Build time is 4-5 months for new Metro bass orders. We have Metro basses on order for delivery every month, so we may already have your desired model on the way. Please call or e-mail us and we'll reserve an inbound Metro with a $500 deposit and let you know when to expect delivery.

Ordering an Archtop:

Archtops are only sold direct.
$200 deposit is required to get on the waiting list. Please inquire about the model/finish you are interested in and we will estimate delivery.

Shipping Policy:

We know you are excited about receiving your new instrument as soon as possible and appreciate your enthusiasm and anticipation. We give each instrument a complete review and set-up before shipping and need to fit this into our normal work schedule.
All instruments purchased from the Sadowsky In Stock Page require a minimum of 48 hours to process, set-up and ship from our shop. All instruments requiring any customization before shipping (pickguards, Vintage Tone Control, etc.) require a minimum of 72 hours before shipping. This refers to weekday hours only. We sincerely appreciate your understanding and patience.
7-day approval period begins the day you receive the instrument
A FedEx tracking number will be e-mailed to you once the instrument ships.
We do not ship instruments to Japan.

Return Policy:

We extend our 7-day approval policy to all of our customers, but the reality of shipping internationally creates problems with returns. If you return an instrument, you remain responsible for all customs charges on the instrument sent to you. You must appeal the charges with the customs officials in your country if you return an instrument.
Due to charges we incur on receiving a return from an international transaction, we must charge a 10% restocking fee.
So please purchase carefully. As much as we want to be as flexible as possible with returns and exchanges, the realities of import and export charges make this difficult to do.
