John F. in NJ asks: I am a big fan of yours for a long time! In looking at the pictures of your beautiful basses on the website, I noticed that most of your 5-string low-B bridge saddles are forward (towards neck) of the E-string saddle.

I have always thought that to properly intonate the low-B, the saddle needed to be set behind the E/A/D/G saddles. I have owned over 100 basses and I play a 5-string so if you could enlighten me about a setup I may not know about, I would appreciate it.

Roger Sadowsky answers: Thanks for the kind words. If the B-string is full core, it will intonate behind the E string. If the B-string is a tapered core, it will intonate in front of the E string.
