Hi everybody i'm Roberto a bass player from Italy and i would like to share my happiness about my first Sadowsky. After 20 years of bass playing, concerts, lessons, kilometers along the Tuscany and the whole middle Italy countries i've finally decided to buy my DREAM BASS, a very nice Sadowsky NYC 5 string produced on 1996. It is a used instrument and kept in a very nice condition after all these years. A wonderful bass, swamp ash body, quilted maple top, maple fingerboard and neck. The previous owner has updated this baby with the VTC so now is really full optional Smiley. Very light body, this swamp ash is very very light, the whole is really balanced as the strings output, the sound is so pure and clear, every note ring has they must ring, long and clear. I own 12 basses, from Fender JB 77, to Precision Fullerton, G&L, Steinberger MMan and on and on, but when u wear a Sadowsky, you cannot believe to what you are feeling. Of course is not a bass good for all season IMO, but i can cover many kind of music i'm playing with the bands and artists. I usually add few bass and treble to the flat tone because i like the organic wood sound without adding extra frequencies. One thing i have to say; the sound is so so sweet and soft even if fucused and it cut really through the mix, but I've thought that the sound could be more aggressive and with more string attack due to the ash body, maybe is due to the kind of pickups used in the 90's, would be nice to know if someone really know about the pickup producer at that era and which is the difference between the actual pickup used, along the years has been used different pickups as i know. Anyway is a wonderful instrument and i hope to buy another Sadowsky soon, maybe a Modern 5-24 with ebony fingerboard! Cheers everybody and hope u like my new baby!! Smiley I wanna say thank you to Roger for the love he bring on his work…every day!! PS: Sorry for my bad english Smiley

Hey David.....I have to agree with Gerard and his sage advice. Also sanding it and changing finish could change the tone....IMHO.

Hey Louisy77:

My name is Gary. I also go by the Mad Hatter here on the forum. I will try to answer some of your questions.

1. You can get either the single coil or the humcancelling in the Metro line.
2. Yes, you can pay $500.00 dollars deposit. It will take the whole 5 months. I just got my 2nd Metro 2 weeks ago. I ordered it in Oct 2013. Its worth the wait Grin
3. If you are talking about vintage options, yes it is possible. Position of pick up location on some models and they come with the Vintage Tone Control (VTC).
4. Finishes for the body....3TB (Three Tone Sunburst).....Like the older fender Jazz & P basses / 2TS (Two Tone Sunburst) ...Only two colors on body and 59 Burst.

Go over to the website and look at the NYC models to get a feel of what the 59 Burst looks like. Then go to Fender's website or ebay to see the 3TS & 2TS look like.

Mine that I ordered has the 3 Tone Sunburst look that I talked about above. Hope this helps you some. Also reach out to Roger Sadowsky (Owner) he always answers his emails and he can advise on shipping costs to Korea.

take Care.....Gary

I knew about main things between NY and Metro in sadowsky web page

But, I want to know more things.

Metro line, is it possible single coil pick up for MV4 model?
is it possible vintiquty options?

I live in Korea and Sadowsky dealer is here, schoolmusic.
but, too expensive to buy.

Do I order Metro bass directly Sadowsky guitars?($500 deposit, delivery 4-5 months)

Last. I don't know what differents between 3TS, 2TS and 59B.

thanks

Hy,
I own MS5, can I put on 4 string set + high C string?
Will it sound ok? Or do I need to change the nut??
The set will be
0.32,0.45,0.65, 0.85,100?

And when I adjust the Truss Rod, how big should the gap be between the 7th and 12th fret??
I read somewhere that it has somerhing to do with the neck radius?? MS5 has 12 radius?

thanks

Can the white border of the neck be omitted? Would certainly match better with the sienna burst finish...
