and it's great that way. There's enough pie to go round (that's why I used 'competitor' loosely). If that wasn't the case I would be less inclined to pass my money on to you and Carey. I guess it's similar to all the bands in my area, we're all friends, help each other out, drink together. Let's just not talk about the others who 'don't play well with others'. I've gotta go and take shipment of my new Sadowsky bass. Excitement much!

Peace, Roger

I read most of the thread (*sigh*) but one thing stood out, and that was Carey posting in Roger's defence. To have one's 'competitor' (I use that term very loosely) sing your praise speaks volumes.

I read a post about a 6-stringer buying a Sadowsky and feeling like he just played better. That's my experience too. Took me a while to warm to my bass, but now I'd never sell it. I even bought another one. I guess we can talk about woods and electrics, but there's also an indefinable quality to a guitar or bass that cannot be explained. It either works for you or it doesn't.

Thank god Sadowskys work for me.
Thanks Roger!

Hi Roger. I tried the bass centre. It was actually trying a metro in their store that led me to buy a couple of your NYC basses. They're out of stock and are trying to get more before christmas. I like George from BGD, but I figure if I'm going to get it shipped I might as well cut out the middleman and order straight from your online store...

sorry Roger, it seems my part of Australia has a shortage of Sadowsky pre/DI pedals. Might have to contact your online store and get one shipped. Will give you a review when I get my hands on one

sounds like you have things sorted! The whole Sadowsky team are a great help aren't they? Best of luck with everything!

but it is a DI too, and there's a huge difference between units - you can pay $50 or $2000 just for DI. They're not a glamorous piece of gear, but I find a good one extremely important. I think I'll pick one up on monday and give my opinion then.

on a slight tangent - is there any difference between the preamp installed in your basses and the pedal unit?

one thing I've done in the past (and still do with some of my guitars) is fit them with a washer between the outside of the strap and the strap button, effectively 'bolting' the strap to the guitar. Of course you need a strap for every guitar, and it's a problem with tight fitting cases, but it's 100% reliable. I have room in my t-bird case, but the sadowsky hardcases are a little too snug to do this, hence using the fitted dunlop straplocks. Just thought I'd throw it out there as a third option (especially if you use a gig bag, not a hardcase)

thanks very much for the links Gillento, will keep us sated. My two are NYC 24f5, so will be a bit different again, and still worth posting at a later date, I think. And thanks for the good wishes P. Bass. Best of luck with your endeavors too!

no worries on the sound clip, as long as you don't mind waiting. Since I'm not starting my album for a month or two I decided to buy another NYC 24f5, so I'll have to refill my coffers before I grab the td-1. Watch this space tho... I'll even send a copy of the album to all interested when it's done...

after seriously considering every DI unit suggested here (plus a few more) I've decided to go with the Millenia td-1. I figure it offers both tube and ss in the one unit and has great reviews. I seriously can't thank you all enough for your advice. I now feel more confident that I'm getting the right unit. And a big thanks to Sadowsky guitars for giving us this forum to help share ideas and knowledge. Rock on!

I've never had a metro, maybe there's someone who knows more that can help us out? Do metros come with straplocks as standard?

Forget price. I'm a professional muso and have a small studio too. I figure I can justify a few grand on the right unit that will serve me well for years. Plus I'm recording my first original album soon, and of course I want it to sound the best I can. I found a dealer in Australia and he's given me very reasonable prices for the reddi, u5 and the td-1. At this stage I'm leaning to the u5, but maybe I should seriously look at the td-1. And again, thanks to all for their input, it's really cutting down my research/learning time

p.s. - please don't apologise for your english, Roberto, it's fine, and your comments are very helpful
30  Sadowsky Basses / Sadowsky Basses / Re: Is there a preferred Straplock for Sadowsky basses? on: October 25, 2010, 06:10:06 PM
these are all fair comments. I did a bit of forum hunting on the subject and, as usual, it's a very subjective thing. It seems most people either go for the schallers or the dunlops. Maybe try a few?
Best of luck
