1  General Category / Sadowsky Forum / Sadowsky strap on: February 23, 2013, 06:27:29 AM
A couple of months ago a friend of mine, a bass player, said to me: what about a good strap for a mid/heavy weight instrument? Sadowsky was my reply, immediately. Today I was thinking how is important take care of musicians also in (apparently) small details.
Sadowsky with its small no frills catalog interprets perfectly this idea.

Besides that, I have a sadowsky strap that I'm using with my current instrument a fender jazz custom shop, I have a Metro 5 string but I don't  use it anymore because I'm on a jazz thing, and I'm hating 5 string! But I don't want to sell my metro cause it's a 2005 with a good sounding B string. Years ago I bought a Sadowsky with a 3 digits serial number!!!! it's true, from a very good italian guitar player that told me that it was a demo model, I remember it was sparkle black. After nearly one year someone told me that it was impossible for sadowsky to use a bartolini preamp  like that in my bass, so this one probably was a fake!!!!! After 2 months of anxiety I traded that sadowsky for a (very good) '74 Pbass. What a mistake!
3 digits serial number!!!!!
...sorry Roger...

Hi from Italy,
I live in Rapallo, near Genoa.
This town is situated in the Tigullio Gulf, a very important touristic location, and a very nice place to live.
At 9 km from Rapallo there's the world famous Portofino.
here's some pics
The castle is a XVI century building, the idea was to defend the town from the saracen pirates, after the more important of these attacks: the 4 july 1549 Dragut a  turkish pirate set on fire Rapallo, and after a 3 days plunder, go away with a lot of young girls.....Dragut, not a stupid one....

Hi from Italy,
I'm using an Epifani UL501 + Epifani 1 x 12 Dist3 and I couldn't be happier.
It's a relatively new system so I have to experimenting a bit. Not a big setup but for small jazz club is perfect.

4  Sadowsky Basses / Sadowsky Basses / epifani ul501 on: August 10, 2011, 03:05:27 PM
Hi from Italy,
I'm looking for a new head amp to add to my Aguilar Gs112. I had a Mesa Walkabout but it was too many vintagey sound to me.
I'm looking for something clean.
I play mainly light jazz & bossa and some soul/funk.
I was thinking to the Epi UL501, it seems a little very good head, I mean something well built, not in the cheap/chinese department.
As alternative Eden Wt550.
Any thoughts, any suggestion, any user?
Sorry for my scholastic english.
Many thanks in advance.

5  Sadowsky Basses / Sadowsky Basses / Re: DI for recording bass on: October 25, 2010, 04:22:19 PM
No, I haven't any experience with tube DIs.
With my PBass with Lindy Fralin passive pups the U5 seems to do a very fine job, with a sound more on the clean side but not sterile.
I think that the tube units are more focused on a given sound, mainly vintagey, but less versatile.
I was using some tube mic pres and the result was the above mentioned: fat, so for certain voices this could be bad, tha same is for bass.
I play mainly soul/fusion/jazz but I'm not a pro, so take my words with the usual grain of salt.
I'm using also a Millennia TD1 that is a very good unit too, but it is a mic pre/DI so the price tag is higher. An interesting feature of the TD1 is the twin topology tube/ss in a single unit. TD1 has so much Ins and Outs and the Reamp feature too. Millennia sound quality is excellent.
Hope this helps, by the way sorry for my bad english.

hi Roberto! Have you had any experience with tube DI units. I'm just wondering what the merits/drawbacks are of tube vs ss. And may I ask what style of music you play.

I'm wondering what DI units people out there are using? (With particular interest in recording Sadowsky basses)
