I've been mesmerized by that Will Lee Signature that Ricky has on the cover. Absolutely an incredible looking instrument!

It is not a Will Lee model.  It is a Vintage J.

That makes it even more awesome!

I played through an Aguilar DB115 and thought it was pretty awesome, especially if you like an old school tone. It's a pretty balanced sounding cab considering the Aguilar DB series tends to be very midrange heavy.

Just out of curiosity, are those blocks "ebony" because they're black, or are they actually ebony wood inlays?

Live from Daryls House is awesome! I just discovered the show a few weeks ago. There's some seriously great playing going on, and Zev sure doesn't disappoint!

I do not recommend the Schaller system.  It's seriously flawed, IMO/IME.

Care to share details on this seriously flawed system?

The only reason I dislike the Schallers is that if the nut comes loose (which in my experience, it often does) the whole thing just falls apart, and off comes your strap.

On the Dunlops, the little clip holds it all in place, and makes it pretty much impossible for it to come undone.


I've used both in the past and never had a problem with either. I just think the Dunlops are a better more fail proof design.

For heavy duty polishing, I use Xtreme metal polish from stewmac to occasionally shine up my chrome hardware (Bridge, tuner, jazz control plate, frets too) it works great and smells awesome too. However for light cleaning, the Sadowsky everyday polish is phenomenal.

As far as your pickup pole pieces go, I'm not too sure what's safe to use as you'd want to be careful not to damage the pickups.

If the rusting of the pickup poles bothers you, I've heard of guys putting clear nail polish on the poles as a protective measure against rusting, but it wont do anything after the rust is already there. Call it mojo.

I believe it has something to do with the active preamp being a buffer or something like that. Not sure if the volume would effect anything in terms of tone in passive mode though.

I still want a NYC with blocks and binding, but whatever that Oly white WL is SICK!!!!
