1  Sadowsky Basses / Sadowsky Basses / Metro Ultra Vintage - 70's - who's got one? Feedback? on: February 07, 2011, 09:43:15 PM
I am looking to buy my first Sadowsky bass and I have my choice narrowed down to either a metro P/J 4 string or a metro Ultra Vintage 70's.  My main bass is a Fender 1974 with a badass 2 bridge, other than that it is stock.  Any feedback will be helpful.  I saw a ultra vintage on e-bay and was close to picking it up but I was on the fence.

Thanks.

I picked up a used Markbass Jeff Berlin Combo in December.  The Markbass is the best amp I have ever owned.  The bottom end is second to none.  The amp is also easy on my back and makes getting my gear to gigs and rehearsal a piece of cake.

I just made my first Sadowsky purchase... Strings!  I am using the black flatwounds on my P-Bass.  Very nice vintage sounds and the feel reminds me of the Steve Harris Signature strings by Rotosound.  Now I need to pick a Sadowsky bass to buy!

Have you had a chance to audition a Sadowsky outboard preamp pedal w/ your passive P-Bass? It's a great addition if a Sad' bass is out of reach at the moment.
B.

Good idea, I will try out a pre-amp.  I have a 74 Jazz Bass that you be killer with a pre-amp.  One of these days I will get up to NYC to try out the Sadowsky bass.  I started playing the bass in 1981 so I may pick up Metro to celebrate.  I am leaning toward the P/J bass with maple neck...  Feedback anyone?

you'll love the tone of Roger's PJs, the only thing that you need to be aware of is that Metro PJ4s come only with a J neck width. If you are set on a P width neck you'll need to buy a NYC.

I want the Jazz bass neck, so the Metro is the way to go.

Killer looking bass!  How does it play?  How does it sound!  You went with a P-bass style neck instead of J Bass neck?  Enjoy!

I recently picked up a used Jeff Berlin Combo by Markbass with a 15" speaker.  The combo is the best sounding amp I have ever used.  I am going to add a 15" Marbass extension cabinet in the future to maximize the power of the head in the combo.  Grin

Hi everyone!  I am new to the Board.  I am from suburban Philadelphia Pa.  I have been playing in the pocket since 1981.  My current gigs are: "Gifts of Praise" a contemporary praise band, and "The Fredos" a cover band playing classic rock from the late 70's to present.  My bass heros include Steve Harris, Gary Player, Geddy Lee, Gezzer Butler, and Cliff Williams.  I am currently a Fender player, my baby is a 1974 Fender Jazz Bass I picked up used in 1983.  I am looking at adding Sadowsky bass in 2011 to my collection to celebrate my 30 years playing down the bottom end.
